Run For Your Lives Asia 2014
This month has been extremely crazy for me so far. School, a lot of preparation to do for my Korea trip, makeup assignments and all. Although its really really tiring for me, no complains, I have to say I'm really excited about everything.
So, here's a little background. Run For Your Lives Asia, or rfylASIA, is the original zombie themed 5k obstacle race, all the way from USA. It was held just last Saturday, 11 Jan, at The Padang. And of course, TSMU is the official sponsor for the amazingly terrifying makeup for the zombies.
Here's us, on our way to The Padang.
Yeap, its scorching hot. Stand there under the sun for 5 minutes, not only will you perspire like mad, you will also be tanned two shades and have an increase in the risk of getting skin cancer by 50%. (Not scientifically prove. Numerical data derived from estimation. Human errors are inevitable.)

This is my station! Mainly in charge of doing shading and contouring, which is extremely tedious. Cause its these dark colours that holds every element of the zombie makeup together.
In case you're wondering what are stumblers, the zombies are divided into two groups - (yeap, of course) 'the stumblers', and 'the chasers'. As their names suggests, the chasers are in charge of doing the running and chasing after the survivors (and yes, that's the name given to the runners), and removing this red ribbon that's attached near the survivors' waists. It signifies the condition of the runner - infected or uninfected. The stumblers, however, do not need to do the running, they just have you, you know, stumble (LOL). If you ask me which is scarier, of course it would be the chasers. Right? Who wants to be chased by a zombie. (Although we all know they're fake.)
And, there, you can see my bag sitting comfortably on the table.

Our tent is super packed, and almost everyone was occupied with something. BUT. Its always a must to pose when someone's taking a photo with you in it. Agree, no?
Okay, I have to say that I'm really impressed. See the construction hat on my head? Yeap, a few of the 'zombies' actually made them from scratch. Those 'metal' objects sticking out from the hat is made from paper materials and the red 'blood' is painted on using nail polishes. WHAT?!?! Yeah, I had the same reaction. HAHA. Initially, I thought they got these insanely cute hats from, perhaps, those shops are sells theatre props. Its really amazing.

See what they are wearing? What they're holding? And what they're doing? These bunch of people are really hardcore and really wants to scare the hell out of the runners. All of them wore PJs in the same design, and each of them had a Hello Kitty soft toy with them. You know, those cute ass Hello Kitty that you get from Macs? And everyone was just crazy over them, wanting to own these soft toys in every design. And in case you still haven't figure out what they are doing, here they are, they're actually trying to saw open these poor Hello Kitty soft toys to expose the stuffing inside them. ):
They must be haters of Hello Kitty. ):
Personally, I'm not one of those insane Hello Kitty fans, but then again, looking at how they saw open these soft toys makes me feel so sad.
Lets have a moment of silence for these poor Hello Kitty soft toys.

Although they didn't get to live a good life being pampered by small, kind kids, nor did they get to be displayed on those sophisticated glass cabinets, they have made a huge contribution for the society by playing a major part in scaring the runners for RFYL.

Crazy amount of people in out tents as everyone squeezed in for shelter when it started to drizzle a little in the afternoon. It was near evening time when it started pouring crazily. But the race still went on despite all that.

She looked even more scary after the fake blood and all were applied on, but too bad, I didn't get to snap a picture of her with her completely look as I was too busy at the time.

It was an amazing day, though it was tiring and the weather was just crazy (super hot and sunny, and then rainy and humid). But I swear its worth it. Everything's just so different when you're doing something that you love to.
Little update here. I will be flying off to Korea on Wednesday (hopefully, cause I have been encountering a lot of problems with visa application and its been causing me a headache for a while now). Will be back before Chinese New Year (thank god!). Will definitely miss everyone dearly although its just for a short period of two weeks. But, whatever it is, being away from home alone for the second time is still rather terrifying. I'm a mummy's girl. And yes, I'm proud of it. Judge me. Kbye.
